Disgruntling America One Edict at a Time

Our Government’s Messaging on Covid is like the “Weather.” Wait 15 minutes, it’ll change. Daily proclamations, new guidance, new variants, new information (anecdotal or authoritative) …it’s like drinking from a fire hose. If you do this…this will happen. If you don’t do this…this will happen. Wear a Mask. Masks are dirty and retain pathogens. Wear a mask indoors. Wear a mask outdoors in crowds. Well, no don’t wear a mask outdoors. Don’t kiss your mother, you might kill her. Your children will bring it home from school, so shut down the schools for a third year. Vaccinate teachers, vaccinate kids…but don’t expect that to be effective, those teachers and kids can still spread it. If you want to eat outside, you don’t need a passport or mask. If you eat indoors, you need a passport and mask until you are seated at the table.

Covid advice is a constantly moving target that can make even the most solid inner-ear dizzy.

The latest “edict” is that all of the military should be vaccinated. The Military are subject to vaccines, to be clear. You can’t serve in certain “theaters” without a vaccine for various illnesses. The difference here is, those vaccines have been around for decades and long ago received Food and Drug Administration approval. Covid has not. Covid is still classified as an “experimental vaccine.”

It does not have final approval. It has not gone through all the rigors of long investigative trials. Efficacy and safety over time is a very important data point to know. Ask women who were prescribed Thalidomide in the late 50’s and early 60’s to control their nausea during pregnancy. Severe birth defects resulted and it was finally outlawed for that purpose. And of course, the hesitancy in the black community results from the decades long experiments during the Tuskegee Study.

Added to that is the person who is pushing the Covid vaccine. Dr. Anthony Fauci.

Dr. Fauci was in charge of the AIDS epidemic in the mid-80’s. Here we are, forty plus years later…there is no AIDS vaccine. There are prophylactics and I have friends who are living decent and healthy lives, but the AIDS virus is still there. It continues to march on and new cases are reported every day. Dr. Fauci is an AIDS virus failure. Not exactly a confidence builder.

Top off the cynicism with the events on our southern border. 1.2 million have come over the border illegally since President Biden took office January 20th. Sixteen percent of those illegals have tested positive for Covid. The daily infection rate for the U.S. is highest in Louisiana is at 99 per 100,000 per day or .00099%.

We did it. We “flattened the curve” like they told us we should do in March 2020. But all of that becomes a moot point when our borders are wide open and people are coming from all over the world to our border; walking in, being tested for Covid, then released throughout the country through federal government sponsored bus transportation and military air flight out of Laughlin Air Force Base in Texas.

Americans aren’t idiots and they really despise double standards.

And it’s not just at the border. It’s a daily barrage of the very people demanding compliance, exhibiting their unwillingness to comply with their own edicts. At the start of Covid my daughter celebrated her 40th birthday. I had planned a fun outing to a go-cart track and invited several of her friends to join us. It was to be a celebration with her friends and their families. That was understandably cancelled by the go-cart track.

But there on the news are photos and videos of large birthday party gatherings and we’re told that’s fine because it’s a more “sophisticated” group of people.

Or we find out that a lockdown was postponed because there was a Lollapalooza concert happening in Chicago and that was fine. Only to learn that the bikers at Sturgis have participated in what is being called a “super spreader” event. Does Covid have the innate ability to figure out which group of people are “less sophisticated” and that’s what makes it more dangerous to be in Sturgis vs. Chicago?

I haven’t see my son for over a year. My neighbor had not seen her sons for longer. For the longest time, even when I did see my daughter it was highly cautious, the best we could do were “air hugs.”

We’re still being told “wear a mask, don’t gather indoors” even if you’re fully vaccinated. It was probably good advice but now it’s getting a little long in the tooth. Especially in light of various leaders not following the rules they insist we follow. And who knows, without this constant stream of unvaccinated people with Covid gushing through our borders, would we be in much better shape right now? Would we have to be having conversations, even arguments, about whether or not kids can fully go back to school? Would houses of worship be able to regain their Constitutional right to have more than fifty-percent capacity?

And the hypocrisy isn’t just mired in all things Covid. We see it in the de-fund the police movement being pushed by politicians who have private security; in the elimination thousands of jobs by shutting down an oil pipeline; demanding that Americans sacrifice their comforts to go “green” while twenty-three of the twenty-five most polluting cities in the world are in China not the United States; proclaiming the rise of the ocean will wipe out us in less than a decade while buying beach front property for themselves. The list goes on.

Instinctively Americans understand hypocrisy. And they come to resist a continuous non-stop stream of edicts that are created for “thee” and not for “me”. It’s why there was a revolution in the first place and why our Constitution is to be revered and vigorously defended. And why the rumble for freedom is getting louder.

More and more of us unsophisticated people are catching on.
